The International Society for the History of Behavioral and Social Sciences国际行为和社会科学史学会 Cheiron, named after the wise centaur of Greek myth, was formed in October 1968 to promote international cooperation and multidisciplinary studies in the history of the social and behavioral sciences. The society's aims are to:
(a) provide a broad perspective on contemporary scientific activities in order to counteract the narrow views of various disciplines and their interactions. (b) broaden scientific perspective by close cooperation with scholars in other countries. (c) strengthen and increase professionalism of scholarly research in the history of the behavioral and social sciences. The Society pursues its goals through a biannual Newsletter and, especially, its annual Meetings. Meetings are held in June of each year, and typically include the presentation of papers, symposia, posters, and works-in-progress. Most important of all is the ample opportunity provided for friendly interaction with scholars from different disciplines.
Cheiron is also affiliated with the Journal of the History of the Behavioral Sciences
